Is our honeymoon over?

Her tears are flowing today! When I pick her up she does what I call a chimpanzee hold. Her legs are wrapped around my waist and she has both hands gripped on my shirt, with BIG tears. And not just crying but screaming.

So we tried the Ergo again! She was not a big fan of it in India. But she is melted against my chest very content now and has been for a good half hour. She is soooo tired but won't give in to it!!!

But for now she is at least content and not crying and has finally let go of my shirt!

It will get better.....I've read. We're having similar issues here. Just keep praying and thinking about her point of view. That is what is keeping me sane through the tough spots.

Your friends are praying for you---and your Lord is with you. You can do it.

I think she is right on target. My niece was adopted from Romania at age 4, 10 yrs ago, did exactly the same thing. My own daughter, adopted at age 3, 3 years ago, meltdown city. The bad news is that the meltdowns can go on for months and can last for hours at a time. The best thing you can do is what you've already figured out - hold her while she cries it out. She is in shock and grieving, and it takes time to get over that. Play games with her that foster eye contact and lots of physical contact. Sitting on the floor face to face and rolling a ball back and forth is really good.

You will get through this. The fact that she is actually grieving is the best thing to see. I know, sounds insane, but that means that she is FEELING appropriate grief. Continue holding, rocking, lots of eye contact, run down with lotions while singing, lots of touching, touching, touching! You will get there. Keep up the good work!

It is so heart breaking when they they cry and cry. But I agree with all the comments given - lots of holding and she will move through her grief, confusion, being scared that you too will leave, etc etc.

I'm new to reading about all of this, but what's "Ergo"?
